The weather got cooler. Your TBR did not get smaller.
Fall is officially the season of cozy blankets, oversized sweaters, warm drinks, and pretending we have absolutely nothing else to do besides read.
Whether you’re into cozy mysteries, atmospheric thrillers, magical adventures, or books set in charming little towns where everyone knows everyone’s business, there’s something about fall that makes curling up with a good book even better.
And since your to-be-read pile probably isn’t getting any smaller on its own, I’ve put together a free printable Fall Reading Challenge with 30 prompts to help you decide what to read next.
What’s Included in the Fall Reading Challenge?
This challenge features 30 fall-inspired reading prompts to help you explore different genres, rediscover forgotten books, and find your next favorite read.
A few of the prompts include:
- A book set in a small town
- A cozy mystery
- A book with autumn colors on the cover
- A comforting reread
- A book featuring a bookstore or library
- A story involving a family secret
- A book with a little magic in it
- A book perfect for a rainy day
The printable also includes space to record your book titles, check off completed prompts, and keep track of your favorite reads.
How to Use the Challenge
There aren’t any complicated rules here. Print out the challenge, pick a prompt, and find a book that fits.
Complete the prompts in any order, use books you already own, or make an excuse to visit your favorite bookstore. Not that you needed another excuse.
You can aim for all 30 books or just choose the prompts that interest you. You can even count one book toward multiple prompts if you prefer a more relaxed challenge.
The goal is to enjoy reading, not turn your favorite hobby into another unpaid job.

30 prompts. One cozy season. An entirely unreasonable number of books on your TBR.

Fall Reading Challenge Printable
Print your copy, grab a blanket, make your favorite warm drink, and start checking books off your list.
And if you spend more time choosing your next book than actually reading it? That’s practically a fall tradition.
