National Hangover Day

January 1st is National Hangover Day. According to the extensive research I did on the topic (i.e., the two links I clicked on), the holiday was created in an Arkansas restaurant in 2015.

Write when drunk. Edit when sober. Marketing is the hangover.

Ashwin Sanghi

Truth be told, I’ve never had a hangover. All I know about them is what I’ve seen on television and in movies.

The hangover was brutal, but he didn’t mind. It told him he had been somewhere else, someplace good.

Charles Bukowski

But what does this have to do with writing? I don’t know.

Sometimes the hangover provides inspiration.

Rostam Batmanglij

All I know is there are many authors who have struggled with alcohol addiction and probably wrote some great things while hungover.

I began to anticipate the completion of my daily thousand words by taking a drink when only five hundred words were written. It was not long until I prefaced the beginning of the thousand words with a drink.

Jack London

So, you probably shouldn’t use a hangover as an excuse not to write. Or do, I’m not the boss of you.
